He is the man behind Mardani who directed this lady Dabang Movie starring Rani Mukherji. A known director and writer in Bollywood, Pradeep Sarkar hails from Kolkata wherein he was born and brought up at this place. His love for filmmaking made him shifted to Mumbai the hub of filmmaking especially the Hindi Cinema. After a struggle he got the chance to start his career with the known movie called Parineeta. His background of Kolkata helped him to make an incredible movie, which turned out a big hit with lead roles Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Dia Mirza.

This movie proved out to be a luck changer for Pradeep Sarkar since he played a number of roles in it. Right from direction, art direction screenplay, he also wrote the script shaping it perfect with the newly introduced Vidya Balan. It was a Vinod Chopra Productions, which is being owned by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. His creativity and hard work for Parineeta was paid back in terms of good box office collection. The fact is his debut direction for the movie Parineeta in 2005 fetched him the national film award under the best direction category. His work was appreciated by critics and audience all across the country and even overseas making it a commercial successful movie at the box office.

This soon turned out a good launch pad for Pradeep Sarkar and soon he was seen with his next venture called Laaga Chunari Mein Daag produced by Yash Raj Films. The said movie was released in October 2007, which turned out an average grosser over the Box office. Apart from direction, he also wrote the story for his second movie along with managing the art direction with creativity and smartness. This followed the other movie Lafangey Parindey again from the YRF production house starring Neil Nitin Mukesh along with Deepika Padukone, which hit the theatres in May 2010. However, after this movie, he took a four-year break with no movies coming any further until he was seen again with YRF making Mardani starring Rani Mukherji.

As far as nominations and awards are concerned, he was recognized for his work at different platforms. As said above, he bagged the National Film Award and Indira Gandhi Award for best direction for his first movie Parineeta. The same movie fetched him awards from Filmfare for Best Art Direction and direction as well along with the Zee Cine Award under the most Promising Director. Though his other movies (direction and screenplay) was not appreciated unlike Parineeta but his latest release Mardaani seems have garnered positive reviews from the audience and critics and you never know he gets another award for this film as well.

Wiki : Omung Kumar has come a long way in his career of movie making. Starting early working over the Television sets, he tried his luck at various places like anchoring, modelling, art direction production designing and finally reaching to the top seat of director with Mary Kom releasing next month. Though he wanted to become an actor, but he didn’t get any break in acting and hence was often seen working behind the scene, which according to him is a very lengthy and time consuming job.

After trying his hand in the television world, he headed to Bollywood wherein he got Dil Hai Tumhara in 2002 wherein he worked as production designer. While some of his other movies include Ishq Vishk, Chameli, Masti, Fida, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Yuvvraaj and Krazzy 4, wherein he played the role of production designer and art director.

Mary Kom is his first movie as a director in Bollywood, which is a sportsman centric biopic inspired by the real life of the known boxer of Manipur. He took three long years in researching about the life of Mary Kom and finally embarked with the script. Though he has not heard the name of Mary Kom but was successful enough to write down a comprehensive script portraying the life of this boxer. According to him it was challenging to portray Priyanka Chopra in this role, however, her hard work paid him back with this movie, which is all set to release next month.

He hails from New Delhi and was born in a family of Air Force as his father was an air force officer. He did his schooling from Air Force Bal Bharti School, later after his graduation, he did his PG in management and later tried doing business with his friend but soon left to work as a copy writer with Hindustan Thompson.

He worked in India and Hongkong in this field and later got an opportunity to work with MTV and soon he entered into the creative field seen making different shows and films for the music channel. Some of his films at MTV even fetched him awards and for his channel, while later served as creative director for around 7 years for Channel V. Here also, he headed a number of projects including the feature called Waisa Bhi Hota Hai, which garnered good response from the audience and critics not only in India but from abroad as well. He is the man who developed the quirky character called Quick Gun Murgun, which helped a lot the Channel V to get its Indian version in the market, which was earlier known as a typical western music channel.

Based on the same character, he later made a movie called Quick Gun Murgun making it an iconic south Indian spoof of one western cowboy. The next movie, which he made with the help of a number of directors called Mumbai Cutting. It is basically a 2010 based anthology, which was based on different characters from Mumbai city. Neeraj Pandey is also known as a popular producer and screenwriter of B Town apart from being a known director of many good movies like A Wednesday and Special 26. He comes from a typical Brahmin family away from the film background from Kolkata. His father, however, has the origin from Bihar who came to Calcutta all way from Bosch to find work. He did his schooling from a local school in Kolkata and then headed to New Delhi to pursue his graduation in English. After his studies, he started working with a Delhi based company called Legacy Entertainment owned by Dalmia group, which worked in making TV program.

This is the place wherein he learnt the basics of filmmaking. In the year 2000, he shifted to Mumbai, the city of dreams wherein he got the chance to produce a documentary for a friend. This helped him enter the world of making a number of documentaries followed by ad films. He soon embarked with his own production company called Quarter Inch Productions along with one of his colleagues called Shital Bhatia, who used to make TV programs, documentaries and ad films. The duo later formed another company called Friday Filmworks, which is the group that produced his debut movie A Wednesday. His next regional production was a venture called Saat Ucchakey wherein the actors like Manoj Bajpayee, K.K Menon, Aditi Sharma and Anu Kapoor were roped in to make the movie. He then made Total Siyapaa with Ali Zafar, while his next venture is Baby, which is just released. His upcoming project is a biopic on Indian Cricket Captain MS Dhoni called MS Dhoni: The Untold Story starring Shushant Singh Rajput. As far as awards are concerned, he has received a number of awards. These include the National Film Award for his debut movie A Wednesday.
